- Fresh Art Fair 2017
- Graduates and undergraduates of Fine Art opened ‘Fresh Art Fair’ at the lobby floor, MESA from 16 to 27, August. 2017 Fresh Art Fair was hosted by Department of Fine Art and supported by SHINSEGAE CO.,LTD. This fair encouraged visitors and artists to build more close connections by breaking down stereotypes. Art works like paintings, drawings, films, pictures and cultural products are displayed at the lobby floor, MESA. Anyone can choice and buy these works on the site like the market.

- Global Capstone Design Team Wins at 2017 PACE Global Annual Forum
- The 1st semester ‘Global Capstone Design’ team (Advisory Professors: Gwan Soo HAN, Sang Do NOH) received 3rd prize for the Product Engineering, Industrial Design field in the PUMA Project Competition at the ‘2017 PACE Global Annual Forum’. The 2017 PACE Global Annual Forum was held from July 24th to 27th in Toluca, Mexico, and 6 teams from 30 universities in 8 countries participated in the competition. PUMA stands for Personal Urban Mobility Access. The team from SKKU invented a personal mobility and transportation service for the baby boomer generation. With support from the SKKU LINC Business Unit, 28 students majoring in subjects such as Systems Management Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Psychology, and Design participated in the event. From the School of Art, the Department of Design is included. Over the course of one year, they organized a team with various universities including UPRM, Purdue University, Howard University, Ibero-American University, ITESM, Kookmin University, and Inha Unversity. The ‘Global Capstone Design’ team will seek a higher degree of completion for the project through the advanced education program ‘Advanced Convergence Capstone Design’ and by attending other international competitions and start-ups.

- "Norikkun" Team Attends the Top 3 Play Festivals in the World
- The team 'Norikkun' was selected as one of the global cultural dreamers by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, participating in ‘The Edinburgh Fringe Festival of 2017.’ 'Norikkun' led by Yongseok Choi(08) consists of 10 graduates of Acting for Theatre, Film, and TV. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is one of the top 3 play festivals in the world, attracting 1,000 performance teams every year. Norikkun will perform Princess Bari in a play, which is the traditional Korean tale. The tale shows the nature of human beings in the process of seeking medicinal herbs on the way to the after-life. Princess Bari will show not only Korean traditional clothes but also cheerful dancing with small drums. This show will be avaliable between August 3rd~12th, 2017 at C Venues (C Cubed)

- 407 SKKU Students Participating in Farm Village Volunteer Work
- 407 students of SKKU are participating in rural community volunteer work from June 23rd (Fri) to June 30th (Fri) at over 26 villages. Even though the weather is extremely hot, students are helping to harvest potatoes, plant beans, work in vineyards and more. President Kyu Sang CHUNG and 10 academic board members visited 2 villages to encourage students. “I am very glad that many students are participating in this volunteer work. I hope that students’ volunteer assistance will help farm villages where they need more hands, especially in this farming season,” said President CHUNG.

- School of Art hosted the orientation for New Korean national/resident abroad Freshmen
- School of Art successfully hosted the orientation for new Korean national/resident abroad freshmen. The event was held in Suseon Hall where students will spend their most of the time in taking major classes. For the orientation, 3 students major in Film, TV & Multimedia and 2 students major in Fashion design presented. Freshmen had useful time by getting the detailed explanation for SKKU's overall policies also by having a special supper with senior students. This kind of event was the one of the unusual experiences that students would have only in School of Art.

- SKKU Enters Top 100 in THE World Reputation Rankings for First Time
- SKKU has placed within top 100 in World Reputation Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE) for the first time. On July 15th, THE announced the World Reputation Rankings 2017. In the evaluation, three universities in Korea were listed in Top 100: Seoul National University (45th), KAIST (81~90th), and SKKU (81~90th). Meanwhile, Harvard University ranked No. 1 for the seventh year in a row while MIT and Stanford University placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively. - SKKU School of Art Reward for the 2016 most excellent teachers.
- School of Art designated four instructors as the most excellent teachers. The four laureates were selected based on academic principles and evaluation from students in 2016. The awards ceremony was held on June 22nd. Hwang Sun Jin, Dean of Art School, awarded them with prize money and present on behalf of SKKU’s President. Jihyun Lee(Dance), Youngsang Cho(Film,TV and Multimedia), Sung-a Park(Dance), Taeho Shin(Design) were selected as the best teachers of 2016.

- Awards for the 47th Dong-A Dance Competition
- Park Jeong-ho (Dance 2) won the first prize in the 47th Dong-A Dance Competition ,competing for the Male Ballet Dancer of general Dept. The final stage was held on 29 May 2017 at SEJONG CENTER. Dong-A Dance Competition has have public confidence among domestic dance competition. 519 students from primary school to high school and general Dept participated in the preliminary round and only 79 contestant reached the final round. Among them, 52 contestants won prizes of 14 sections. In particular, Lee Hye-joon,comepting for interpretative dance, also won the first prize. - “Yepeum”,the 19th student council, delivering gifts to sanitation staff members
- The 19th student council, college of Arts, “Yepeum”, delivered gifts to staff members of sanitation and security. This event conducted by the student council was held on 11 May at Seokdam Square ,SUSEON Hall in order to thank for their efforts. The president of the student council, Jeong Ji-eun, said, “May is Family Month and it also a great month to thank for all of help around us. I always thank for their efforts on behalf of all students.”

- 2017 Fire Safety Education
- 2017 School of Arts held fire safety education. School of Arts held fire safety education for the student council on 24 May 18:30 p.m. at International Multimedia room(61907), SUSEON Hall. This education program was supervised by SKKU management department, teaching students how to control fire accidents in the first place and how to use fire-fighting appliances. Above all, the purpose of the program is to raise awareness toward fire safety and prevention.
