This class is an introductory course intended to provide students with a solid foundation in terms of the vital role played by entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in the 21st century global economy. Entrepreneurship is approached as a way of thinking and acting, as an attitude and a behavior. Our emphasis is on entrepreneurship as a manageable process that can be applied in virtually any organizational setting. Our principal focus will be on the creation of new ventures, the ways that they come into being, and factors associated with their success.
ISS3292 Social and Sustainable Entrepreneurship 3 6 Major Bachelor 1-4 English Yes
This course introduces students to the process of social and sustainable entrepreneurship—where innovation meets impact. Together, we will explore what social entrepreneurship is, why it is important, and how entrepreneurial action can solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges. The course aims to achieve five core objectives;1 recognize the potential within yourself and others for social impact through entrepreneurial action; 2 apply the tools of entrepreneurship to pressing social challenges; 3 develop and evaluate novel social business concepts for their potential to be turned into sustainable ventures; 4 appreciate the role of social and sustainable entrepreneurship within society, and how it manifests itself in different contexts (start-up, corporate, social, public sector) and people;5 understand key strategic tradeoffs in social entrepreneurship such as financing alternatives, organizational forms, impact measurement, and mission alignment. To achieve these objectives, students will learn about a variety of social issues and explore how to identify entrepreneurial opportunities that create both economic and social value. We will consider the strategic tradeoffs that social entrepreneurs must grapple with, the tools that make social ventures successful, and how to measure impact. By actively contributing in class, and completing each assignment, students will learn the tools necessary to successfully identify and develop a viable social and sustainable venture.
ISS3296 Cultural Contents and Natural Language Processing 3 6 Major Bachelor 1-4 English Yes
This course focuses on Natural Language Processing(NLP) methods in cultural contents industry, such as movie, drama, music, and webtoon industry. This course aims to understand the importance of linguistic data analysis in developing cultural content services and learn basic techniques of natural language processing. Students will attempt to understand human(user/consumer) by analyzing their linguistic data and then develop human-centered services, such as personalized recommendation systems and culture-specific marketing strategies. In this course, students will get a chance to practice basic Python grammars and NLP tools in class. The class will be conducted on the assumption that all students will have little (or no) prior knowledge of linguistics and programming.
ISS3308 UX Accessibility 3 6 Major Bachelor English Yes
In this course, students will learn how the Accessibility discipline integrates within an effective UX Design and Development environment. Students will understand the foundations of Digital Accessibility and its evolution into a critical component of UX and development teams, product offerings, and design systems (where applicable). Modern accessibility represents the effort to remove the obstacles present for many people who can’t participate and enjoy the same experiences as others without assistive technology or special accommodations. This goes beyond people with low-vision and physical disabilities to include cognitive, hearing, and other challenges. This course will cover the established and detailed WCAG guidelines used by designers and developers to ensure consistent and meaningful accessibility, plus current and forward-looking test methodologies employed by Accessibility researchers.
ISS3311 Human Creativity in the Age of AI 3 6 Major Bachelor English Yes
This course examines the evolving relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence. By integrating discussions of science fiction, the history of AI developments, and contemporary AI-enabled art, students will explore how AI influences and expands the boundaries of human artistic and creative expression. In addition, students will learn how to build their own customized GPTs and the basics of effective prompt engineering to use AI to improve their writing and image-creation abilities.
ISS3312 Digital Storytelling : Experimental Media Narratives 3 6 Major Bachelor English Yes
This course is a production-centric course covering interactive multimedia, also called “digital storytelling.” This course deals with practical philosophy and techniques about multimedia production through Generative Artificial Intelligence, Photoshop®, Illustrator®, Premiere Pro®, Animate CC®, and Content Management System (WordPress®). The course will provide students with an opportunity to develop specific skills, competencies, and points of view needed by professionals in the field most closely related to multimedia, including animation, digitization, web coding, and video production. It expects students to acquire skill sets in working with others as a member of a team or an individual. Students develop creative capacities through designing and creating multimedia products. Students will be given assignments on electronic media practices such as interviews, audio, video, and other needed written assignments as scheduled in the course. Students are also required to complete digital storytelling projects.

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of Python programming with a focus on practices in social computing. Students will learn how to use Python to analyze humanities and social science phenomena like emotions, morality, cultural values etc. The course will cover essential Python libraries and tools commonly used in social computing research and projects.
MCJ2124 Understanding Computational Media 3 6 Major Bachelor 2-4 Media & Communication English Yes
Computational media includes diverse types of media generated by computing technology (e.g., artificial intelligence [AI]-based deepfakes, deepvoices, and augmented/virtual reality-based media). Particularly, multimedia content has been largely produced based on a computational approach. In addition, AI-based algorithms play a role in presenting multimedia content to audiences selectively, which has caused negative/positive consequences for society. Based on a media and communication perspective, this course aims to help students comprehensively understand how computational media content is produced, how computational methods serve a role in multimedia production, and how audiences consume such media. The specific purposes of this course are: first, students will be able to understand the persuasive effects of computational media content based on traditional media theories; second, students will analyze from a critical standpoint how consumers process and understand computational media content and under which circumstances that such messages would produce effective persuasion outcomes to audiences; third, students will analyze emerging multimedia formats generated by computational methods (e.g., deepfakes, deepvoices) and seek out ways to use such media for public interest purposes.

The purpose of this class is to create new social and artistic values through the convergence of students from various majors. Students will be able to have creativity, Problem Based Learning skill, and capability to conduct a team project. Also, the class aims to develop various topics such as developing cultural products, developing a small performance program which encourage students to create convergence synergies, and to link to the business commercialization.

This course will help students to obtain new trends of various aspects of Arts field and entrepreneurship by learning theory of entrepreneurship and its practical implementation. As a result of this course, we expect that students to become a leader in art industry and develop own skills that will help them to improve their performances in art business ventures. Through this course, students will learn various concepts related to entrepreneurship, such as unique selling proposition, business plan, and cash flow. In addition, by exposing to various case studies of real world examples and expert knowledge and practical skills, students can develop competence to have creative and flexible thinking and vision in theory and field.

Production workshop of immersive content that provides and immersive experience using virtual reality(VR), augmented reality(AR) and mixed reality(MR) technology. The student-centered immersive content project selected through the presentation will be presented at Ars Electronica, Austria.
