This course emphasises teaching the fundamental principles and methods of composition and applying them through practice and the creation of dance works. 2. Contact improvisation is an open form of physical expression through interaction with other people. The study and practice of contact improvisation expands the students creative and analytical bodies and minds. Through collaboration students will investigate individual movement possibilities, relationships and group dynamics, and how these discoveries can extend their understanding of contemporary dance. Moreover, students will attain practical knowledge of composition, history and culture in dance through the practice of contact improvisation.

SKD7005 Seminar in Western Dance History 3 6 Major Bachelor/Master/Doctor Dance Korean Yes
This module aims to provide the study of Western theatre dances in its historical contexts, examining the close relationship between dance, culture, politics, economics and society. In this module, dance is understood as a socio-cultural practice, by placing it in the context of other related art forms, and also in relation to the social context in which it exists. With this underlying principle, the historical explorations of Western dance forms are regarded as a way of understanding the changing artistic trends and aesthetic values, as well as a method of reading political and economical shifts of international society, and its power relations. The module provides a foundational introduction to different methodological and theoretical frameworks, with a particular emphasis on the nature and value of historical inquiry. Moreover, it also insists the actual employment of suggested theories in building individual investigations. The approach to dance history will be topical rather than chronological, and guided by the diversity of student research agendas. In each session, students are encouraged to develop critical engagement with source materials, and to present a sustained logical argument using appropriate evidence and extended communication skills. In general, the module aims to foster scholarly insights and knowledge that are required at the postgraduate level.

The purpose of this class is to create new social and artistic values through the convergence of students from various majors. This course will help students to obtain new trends of various aspects of Arts field and entrepreneurship by learning theory of entrepreneurship and its practical implementation. As a result of this course, we expect that students to become a leader in art industry and develop own skills that will help them to improve their performances in art business ventures. Through this course, students will learn various concepts related to entrepreneurship, such as unique selling proposition, business plan, and cash flow. In addition, by exposing to various case studies of real world examples and expert knowledge and practical skills, students can develop competence to have creative and flexible thinking and vision in theory and field.
